Day 2 of my juice fast:

Day 3 of my Juice Fast:

Today my son had Basketball Districts in another city so it was imperative that I prepare ahead of time.  Also, there are 2 people in my household doing this juice fast with me (my husband and my brother) which made the need to prepare ahead of time REALLY important so we didn't fall off the wagon.  I felt really good in the morning as we prepped the juices for the day.  I didn't have a headache but did start to feel some hunger pains in the a.m. while I was prepping the food.  That is actually a good thing since I haven't felt hunger pains in that form (I'm usually light headed or tired when I am hungry because I am so overweight) for probably several years.  So we made the following recipes to go, put them in containers in a cooler with 12 bottles of water and went to the Districts for the day.  Upon returning home later that evening, the mental part of wanting to make a nice dinner for my family kicked into HIGH gear.  I was back and forth about whether or not we should be doing this and trying to talk myself into legitimate reasons to just make this one dinner for my family...and on, and on, and on.  I'm not kidding when I say it was REALLY intense.  It brought to light the real power behind my food addiction and the social part of eating.  For whatever reason, we as a culture really enjoy a great meal at a dinner table with family and friends.  It's a pretty big part of our daily lives.  What I am looking forward to after going back to eating solid foods is that time together.  Right now we are all so raw and weak when it comes to temptation that I fix my son's meals and everyone else goes outside because they just can't stand it.  **If you are preparing yourself for this fast, please note that these feelings are a normal part of the process.**  So back to the evening....I was really struggling and had noted to my husband that I was feeling "mushy" all over (lol...sorry that's how it feels) earlier that day.  When I was struggling, I decided to go step on the scale.  Normally I am only going to weigh once a week probably but I needed to find some extra strength somewhere...I was having an inner war with myself.  So the last time I weighed was 3 days prior when I started the fast.  When I stepped on the scale Saturday night I had lost 16 lbs in 3 days....yes you are reading that correctly. 16 LBS IN 3 DAYS!!  I got off the scale, let it reset and got back on again because I didn't believe what I first saw.  But the second reading was the same. :-)  Because I am so ashamed of my current weight, I am choosing to not tell you what my starting weight was.  But I will say this... I am 5'9" tall and was over 200 lbs overweight at the beginning of this journey.

So got through Day 3 no worse for the wear and am looking forward to the next time I step on the scale ... I will wait until Wednesday which will be one week from the start and then let you know what I find. ;-)
